Introducing Kashi Shrine Hobby: Rare Gunpla Kits from Japan… and Ridiculous Gundam Snacks?!
Share
Hey! I’m Matthew, the founder of Kashi Shrine. If you’ve followed us for a while, you probably know us for our Japanese snack boxes — curated, seasonal, and full of fun surprises. But there’s another side of Japan I’ve always loved:
Gunpla.
Model kits.
The art of building plastic perfection.
And now, I’m excited to officially launch something I’ve wanted to do for a long time:
👉 Kashi Shrine Hobby — a new section of our store dedicated to limited-edition Gunpla kits, especially ones from Gundam Base Japan and Premium Bandai.
Why Launch a Gunpla Shop?
Honestly? Because I live in Tokyo, and I can go to Gundam Base regularly.
A lot of the kits they sell — especially the clear color versions, special coatings, and event-only kits — are nearly impossible to buy unless you’re physically in Japan. Even then, it takes time, effort, and sometimes multiple visits to find what you’re looking for.
Not everyone can fly to Tokyo and spend hours navigating the shops. So I figured — why not help make these exclusive kits more accessible?
Yes, the prices are higher than Japan’s MSRP, but for many fans, that’s still far cheaper than the cost of airfare, hotel, and a week in Japan. You're not just paying for the kit — you're saving the cost and time of getting it yourself.
And I personally go to Gundam Base, pack every order myself, and ship directly from Tokyo — no middlemen, no risky proxies. Just real kits, straight from Japan.
What Makes Kashi Shrine Hobby Different?
-
✅ All kits come directly from Gundam Base Japan or Premium Bandai
-
📦 Orders ship from Tokyo within 5 business days

🛠️ Subscription boxes are also available for Gunpla fans who love surprises
And yes — I still hand-pack every order myself.

🍘 The Weird (and Slightly Disappointing?) Gundam Snacks I Found
Now let’s talk about something I wasn’t expecting...
Gundam Base sells snacks.
And some of them are just... ridiculous.
Here’s what I saw on my last trip:
-
THE GUNDAM BASE 抹茶チョコクランチ
A basic matcha chocolate crunch, with a Unicorn Gundam on the box. That’s it. -
ガンプラくん ラングドシャCute langue de chat cookies with Gunpla-kun printed right on them. Great souvenir.
-
THE GUNDAM BASE チョコチップクッキー
Looks special with Unicorn packaging, but the cookies? Totally normal. -
THE GUNDAM BASE チョコクランチ
Standard chocolate crunch — just with a Gundam picture on the box. -
THE GUNDAM BASE ワッフルクッキー
Waffle cookies in a wrapper with the Gundam Base logo. That’s the whole deal. -
ガンプラくん ぷち歌舞伎揚 (I actually bought this one)
Mini senbei crackers with Gunpla-kun on the packaging. Taste? Classic kabuki-age. Nothing new inside.
So yeah — these are completely normal Japanese snacks, repackaged with Gundam art.
But you know what? As a collector, I kind of love them anyway.
What Do Snacks and Gunpla Have in Common?
Surprisingly — a lot.
-
They're both seasonal and exclusive
-
They both attract collectors
-
And in both worlds, packaging really matters
That’s why Kashi Shrine Hobby isn’t some random side project.
It’s a natural extension of what we already do — deliver the most fun, creative parts of Japan to people around the world.
Whether it’s a seasonal snack box from Tokyo,
or a limited Gunpla kit you can’t find overseas,
I want to make it easy for people to enjoy Japan’s best — no plane ticket required.
What’s Coming Next?
I'll be posting more rare Gunpla kits soon, along with photos and maybe some more snack reviews (because why not?).
In the meantime, if you're into building, collecting, or just want to try something new — come check out Kashi Shrine Hobby.
And if you ever want something from Gundam Base Japan, feel free to message me. I might just be going there next week.
See you around ✌️
